She fell off the bed. She felt like if her arm was broken. She stared at the white wall, as pure as water, as hard as diamond, as stupid and meaningless as life. She started punching it. She had no idea what she was doing; she just knew that she had to do it. Blood started to spring from her fists, as tears came out of her eyes as if they were water hoses. She remembered everything. She was kidnapped. It wouldn't have been that painful if another person had kidnapped her, but it was him. It was her boyfriend. What the hell she had done to deserve this? Was she unfaithful? Did she go with another guy? Did she lie or cheat? She didn't know. But the only thing she knew for sure was that she had to escape. She noticed a golden, little ball stuck on the wall. Was it a door? As she approached to the object, footsteps started to sound from far away, and a strong, yet short moan, could be heard too… Her heart was beating very fast… She touched the golden ball… She
a dangerous hallucinationThe light coming through the window was bright,
much too bright.
Even though my eyes were closed
I could see it-
The skin of my arms prickled,
sweat dripped from my brow.
It was two in the afternoon but…
the sun was setting
through the window facing east.
I should have seen the hutch,
shelves lined with bone china
decorated with delicate leaves and vines.
I was so thirsty
and reaching for cups that should have been there.
Instead I found a billboard of butterflies,
the colors raging
more than any rainbow
I'd ever seen.
Their wings fluttered and flashed
yet somehow they moved in slow motion.
I wanted to stand,
wanted to reach out and touch them but…
I couldn't move,
and yet I laughed
ignoring my dry mouth
and the tingling in my feet.
There was a tempest
on the rise
and in my blood.
A sugar rush disguised
as a riot of butterflies
and they were swarming me.
There was a small vial
of insulin in my pocket
